Oxalic acid dissolves many iron-oxide rust stains. It is toxic if swallowed – wear gloves/goggles, never use on food-contact surfaces without validated protocols, and dispose of spent solution correctly. Read the SDS before use.
Steps
- Dissolve 50 g oxalic acid in ~800 ml warm demineralised water with stirring.
- Top up to 1 L.
- Soak or wipe rusted parts 15–60 minutes; scrub lightly if needed.
- Rinse thoroughly with water; neutralise rinse water per site rules; dry metal to limit flash rust.
